Osteoarthritis is very common in cats and dogs

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease that affects the joints of cats and dogs. A number of factors contribute to its development, including weight, trauma and a predisposition in some breeds. Age is also a key factor in the development of osteoarthritis in a pet’s life:

The Vetoquinol Mobility Program: Helping You Manage your Pet’s Osteoarthritis

Caring for a pet with osteoarthritis means taking action in several different areas:  watching your pet’s weight, making sure your pet’s mobility improves over time and giving your pet the medication the vet has prescribed. To make it easier for you to manage your pet’s condition, we have developed the Vetoquinol Mobility Program, which has 4 key components:

Your veterinary clinic can provide you with a number of tools, including the Vetoquinol Mobility Program booklet and canine and feline mobility tests. Perform the mobility test once a week for at least 3 months. There is no maximum length of time. (Record each test’s final score in the booklet)

We have also developed several video capsules on rehabilitation to help you improve your pet’s mobility and quality of life. They are available on our My Pet’s Health YouTube channel (link to YouTube channel).

All these tools are available to help you manage your pet’s osteoarthritis, and we strongly recommend that you see your vet. They will prescribe the medications and supplements for your pet’s condition and stage of osteoarthritis, as well as rehabilitation exercises and diet.
